Curriculum Review and Improvement Workshop

From the 24 till the 28th of February 2020 the FBLS ‘Curriculum Review and Improvement Workshop’ took place at HRC in Wad Medani and at Kassala University in Kassala, Sudan. Representatives from the FBLN chapters and Universities in Kenya, Malawi, Pakistan, Sudan and Yemen, came together to review the current initiatives of mainstreaming FBLS and Spate Irrigation at the Universities.

The workshop has started by an opening session addressed by Prof. Abu Obeida B. Ahmed, General Director of HRC-Sudan and Dr. Abraham Mehari Haile Principal researcher at MetaMeta Research. Key stakeholders have attended the opening session including junior and mid-career professionals representing researchers, university lecturers and tutors as well as government representatives who are involved directly or indirectly in spate irrigation management.

The Gezira irrigation scheme is visited by the workshop participants on Monday, 24 February 2020 guided by the HRC staff to inform participants with irrigation system and the canalization system in Gezira scheme.

The first day was used to present a range of emerging topics that have potential to be included into the curricula followed by an overview of the curricula and delivery methods in the several countries on the second day. On the third day a field visit to Gash spate systems was made and the workshop closed with presentations from students on the fourth day.See Report
